Christian Mothers
Christian mothers glorify God through their relationships with their husbands and their children.
Christian mothers are not limited to only wearing a spiritual hat in their household, like all mothers, they wear many hats in the household. Motherhood involves a lot of multitasking and it is difficult to put a value on all the things you moms do for your families. Some studies put the number of jobs required to fill the role of mom as high as seventeen. According to financial advisor Ric Edelman’s Annual Mother’s Day Index, the 2008 job-market value of the role of mother is $802,690.00!!!
The one job with the biggest impact on society and, thus, the most important is the spiritual and moral development of your children. To be the most effective in your role as a Christian mom, you must study the Word of God (John 5:39), teach it to your children (Deuteronomy 6:67), and apply it in your daily life (James 1:22). You must strive to be Christ-like in your everyday living because your children imitate the example you set whether it is good or bad! Children, like most people, will notice what you do more than what you say. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) says, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Your role as a Christian mom must be fulfilled in accordance with the line of authority established by God for the family. 1Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV) says, But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Chris t is God. As a mother and wife you are to submit to your husband (Eph. 5:22), respect him (Eph. 5:33), and support him.
Christian motherhood calls you to love, discipline, nurture, and care for your children. You also have the responsibility of maintaining an orderly, peaceful home (Proverbs 14:1). Titus 2:4-5 (NIV) tells us, Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the Word of God. In other words, you should live in a manner that glorifies God and does not hinder, but helps spread the gospel.
The characteristics and roles of Godly Christian mothers can be found in Proverbs 31. You are a trustworthy woman of good character. You are a diligent, hardworking, devoted homemaker. You wisely manage the family finances. You are generous and compassionate. You are selfless with an attitude to serve. You insure the orderly maintenance of your home and family. You are willing to work outside the home if necessary. You are kind and have a positive influence on others. You are hopeful and courageous. You speak wisdom and have heart of a teacher. You are efficient and keep your family on schedule. You are honored and respected by your family. You let your work and actions speak for you. You are an obedient, God fearing, Child of the Most High. Finally, your heart belongs to Jesus and everything you do is to please Him and glorify his magnificent name!
